Equal Opportunity Office

When it comes to arguments for enforcing policies on equality, the following are important in the higher education sector:

  • Academic arguments: promotion of scientific quality through equal participation; efficient talent management
  • Legal arguments: legal standardization in laws and equality plans
  • Political arguments: equal participation is political and moral standard; science-political objective
  • Economic arguments: optimal extraction, promotion and development of all human resource potentials; criterion for obtaining funding

But we are particularly driven by the ethical dimension of the topic equal opportunity that is based on human dignity and mutual respect. Only by this dimension we are called upon to take responsibility, to embrace change and by that contribute to an open culture.

At the Technical University of Munich (TUM) this topic is seen as a cross-sectional task. The Gender & Diversity Strategy at TUM is strongly supported by the four divisions of the Equal Opportunity Office of TUM: TUM.Family, TUM.Diversity, the Gender Equality Office and the Ombud Office.
